Skinny Jeans, I Want to Quit You

Since it's cold outside and I don't have an adequate amount of cold weather dresses (I think I have one), I've been wearing pants almost everyday. In general, I don't care to wear pants. In the spring and summer it's all dresses all the time. And I've had it with skinny jeans. They're so constricting and uncomfortable and most of the jean choices today are waaaaaaaaayyyy too low. And then the high waisted ones are too high and don't allow for any eating. Or breathing.

I didn't know there was another way until last night. My friend and I watched The House of the Devil, which takes place in the early 80s, and there they were Sensible Jeans. They're lovely. Good fit, still a skinny leg, but doesn't seem to to cut off circulation. I must have some.
I don't know where to find these jeans, but I must have some (more for sanity's sake and it's a little inappropriate how I take my pants off when I get to my friends' houses). Please don't say "at a vintage" store because that's annoying. There must be some new, non-mom, fitted and awesome looking, high enough but not too high, sensible jeans somewhere in this world.

Man Caves, by Chaparral Studio. She also makes a lot of amazing terrariums. But, these little man caves make me laugh.

Katie Sokoler's amazing idea to make a life size cut out of herself for her dad (he complains he doesn't see her enough). If you're not familiar with her blog, check it out.

Horror Movie Review: Mama

There are no spoilers, it's safe to read.

I've been waiting for Mama to come out for a long time. The ads make it look absolutely horrifying and Guillermo Del Toro is involved (I thought he directed it, but he's just an executive producer. Andres Muschietti directed). Creepy kids, ghosts, darkness, the woods. Many popular elements of scariness. Unfortunately, this was the worst movie I've seen in recent recollection. On the way home from the theater, I tried to think of a worse movie and I couldn't. My fellow movie goers were laughing and clapping during the dumber scenes (this is why I love opening night).

It started off reallllllllllllly badly. But, I reassured myself, The Ring started off kind of weak. I mean, it was about a home movie. People didn't even buy VCRs at the time. Unlike The RingMama didn't take a turn for the awesome. I kept hoping it was going to at least make me jump in my seat (Even Sinister kept it alive with things popping out of the dark). Then, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, they showed the spirit that is Mama...really? You had a little bit of mystery going, then you just ruined it (PS: your CGI looks like it belongs in a Pixar movie and not a horror flick) (no offense Pixar, you rock!).

So, if you can't tell, my recommendation is skip this one. Go and see Djano Unchained. Remember, this is two hours of your life you CAN NEVER GET BACK.

Craft Monster vol. 1: Hey Girl Hey

Last week I finished up a cross stitch pattern I created. It's the first pattern I've ever made myself and I'm quite proud of it. It turned out way better than expected. I sold it off Instagram. Very exciting!

I'm currently working on a new and way more intricate one. I've taken a prolonged break from knitting (I'm knitted out!) and am obsessed with cross stitching. It's all I want to do. Unfortunately, I'm in my last quarter of school and working on it non stop isn't an option. I get it in whenever I can :)

Have a great day!

It's a little teeny tiny Chico! These are amazing, she crochets them with one strand of embroidery floss.

Le Parcel is an awesome service that sends you a box of items every month to prepare you for that time of the month. It's so cool.

I found this on reddit of Ron Swanson. Awesome.

I bought some cards from Grampkin a few years ago and I thought they were gone. THEN, this week, I found them again. They just moved over to big cartel. I might buy this for my boo for Valentine's Day.

Have a lovely week!!

A Eulogy for Slaight

The first time I saw her, she bit me and then ran away. I knew it was love at first sight. From 11-20, she was my constant companion. When I was into Harriet the Spy, she joined me (against her will) in a book bag to spy on my family and neighbors. I thought she was a living doll, my toy. I dressed her up in doll clothes and made up little scenes for her to participate in, like tea service. She wasn't thrilled, but after much hissing and struggling, she gave up and let me pose her this way and that.

As I grew up, she and I read books together and learned Biology. We took walks around the neighborhood and climbed trees. I told her about boys I liked and about mean girls.

I grew more, still, and she accompanied me around the neighborhood when I snuck out to visit friends in the night and to smoke cigarettes (I thought I was so cool). I cried to her through teenage angst and many boyfriends. She was always there to listen and comfort.

When I went off to college, I couldn't take her and while I never forgot, I moved on. I got new kitties and I made new confidants. I visited from time to time, but it was never the same.

I've always loved her and she's always loved me. I'll miss her so much. She's such a tough and special little soul.

Rest in peace Miss Slaightybelle.

Kawaii, felt bread!

Comfort in a Box from Kim's Little Monsters.

For years, when I was mindlessly humming, it was always Yellow Submarine. I want this, but I don't know if I'd really use it that much (as I said in the Life List, I'm trying to cut down on clutter). Alas, it's so adorable.

Adorable little video.

Scrapbook: NYE 2013!

Instead of trying to have the most epic night ever, some friends planned a game night and pot luck in the community center in our neighborhood. It was awesome. Super low key. Just what I wanted.
